2013: My Year in Review

Last year, on New Year's Eve, I announced that my  2013 word of the year would be the word"Do".

Inspired by the chalkboard wall art that I built and lettered for what was, at the time, my studio, and my favorite Star Wars quote (have I told you lately that I'm kind of a geek?)

Here's what I wrote: "In 2013, I'm going to do more and worry less....at least that's my intent...
A year from now, we'll all see how successful I am."

Well, it has been a year (can you believe it?) Let's see how I did:

There were Makeovers and Room Reveals:
Finished basement with Media room, Recreation room and Exercise room

French Country Inspired Home Office

Marble and Granite Master Bathroom with Towel Warming Drawer

Coastal Eclectic Family Great Room

There were wreaths:

1) Dollar Tree Heart and Bath Pouf Wreath
2) Dollar Tree Shamrock Wreath
3) Moss and Paper Punched Butterfly Wreath
4) Yarn Wrapped Fly a Kite Wreath

and Mantels (I actually had to make a mantel at the French Farmhouse before I could decorate it):

Easy Pom Pom and Tissue Paper Flower Valentines Day Mantel
Spring Bunny Mantel with Reclaimed Pallet Wood Artwork Tutorial
Rustic Vintage Ski Lodge Winter Holiday Mantel

Flowers were planted in urns, tablescapes created and I made bouquets and a banner for a very special prairie wedding that was photographed for an upcoming book!

I painted and repurposed furniture. Heck, sometimes, it wasn't even my own!

Of course, there was baking and a whole host of  "other stuff".

On the more personal side of things, like so many of you, in addition to projects, managing a home and family, I still work full time (in Global Finance at IBM).
In the spring, I became a contributing writer at Fox Hollow Cottage. I taught my very first class at Vintage Charm this fall and helped out at numerous pop up sales in the area throughout the year.

The summer was a crazy busy time as my youngest graduated high school, my oldest moved to Georgia for a summer internship, my father faced and conquered a serious health crisis and we listed our home for sale.

In August, I became an empty nester with two sons in college (senior and freshman), we said goodbye to our 15 year old yellow lab, Martha Stewart (I still can't talk about that) and of course, we moved to the French Farmhouse.

2013 was a very busy year and 2014 promises to be even busier as we move forward on the renovation of the French Farm House Project. Did I "do" a lot? Yes, I think so. Did I worry less...honestly, no. But I'm still working on that!

As always, I'm so very thankful to each and every one of you for subscribing to the blog, following along on Facebook, Pinterest, G+ and Twitter. For stopping by to say "hi " at barn sales, flea markets and stores; and for the kind comments and support that you continue to provide to me every single day.

I'll be back soon with updates on the French Farmhouse Project and my word for 2014. In the mean time, have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the last few days of 2013!
