Hand Painted Vintage Snow Shovels

I'm interrupting fall to bring you a little... winter.  Don't be angry, I'm not actually bringing winter...just a little winter themed decorating and truly, when it comes right down to it, it's not just me; it's also my friend Ann from Nellie's barn sale.

She phoned me a couple of weeks ago and told me that she had a bunch of vintage metal snow that she had collected over the summer and she wanted to paint winter sayings on them and decorate them.  Well, I couldn't very well allow her to do that without me, could I?!

So she came to visit for the weekend with her shovels and an empty van and stayed in my wreck of a house.  She helped me to clear a path in the breezeway by filling her van with cabinets that I've needed to sell since we moved here and then we set to work.

We made a temporary home in my new studio (even though it's no where near being an actual studio yet) and we painted and decorated and made bows for the better part of Saturday afternoon and evening.

To say that I had a blast would be an understatement. From planning which words and what style of lettering and colors would go on each of the shovels to choosing ribbon and "accessories" to hang from the handles.

I'm not sure which part of Ann's visit I enjoyed most. I got to spend the weekend with a dear friend that I've known since I was eight years old. I ended up with a clean breezeway and she got a van full of cabinets which she has offered to sell for me at her upcoming sale (details below).

I also got to help her to hand paint and  repurpose vintage shovels into adorable winter themed decor that would be so stinking cute on a porch or in an entry way. When we finished, we each chose a favorite...and we made a friendly wager about which of them would be the first to sell. That's right, these shovels will be for sale at Nellie's Barn Sale which is coming up on Friday and Saturday, October 10 and 11 Link Here.

So, what about you...which is your favorite?
