Merry Christmas
"The magic of Christmas never ends and its greatest gifts are
family and friends."
To each of you from all of us here at the French farmhouse, may your Christmas be filled with love, peace, and just a little magic.
Candy Cane Stripe Christmas Kitchen - Welcome Home Tour
Welcome to Christmas in my farmhouse kitchen! My philosophy this year is inexpensive...and easy. Ninety percent of this red and white striped candy cane kitchen was created using items that I already had on hand.
Bleached Pinecone Woodland Gnome {Ornament Day 9}
...pin it... and forget it.
Polar Express Bell Quote Ornament {Ornament Day 7}
When my oldest was in first grade, his favorite bedtime story book at Christmas time was, "The Polar Express." For those of you who may not know the story, it's about a young boy who boards a magical train to the north pole on Christmas Eve. In the illustrations of the story, the young boy is wearing a plaid flannel bathrobe over his pajamas.
Vintage Style Glitter Star {Ornament Day 5}
Today, I'm continuing with a vintage vibe for this wood star ornament that features a pipe cleaner edge and a vintage sheet music rosette in addition to a simple white, silver and gold color scheme.
This ornament looks much harder to create than it actually is. The beauty is in the details!
Gold and White Monogram Glass Ball {Ornament Day 3}
I started things out pretty easy on days one and two of this series but today, we're going to take things up a notch. Today, we're creating a gold and white monogrammed glass ball ornament using spray paint and yes, more glitter!
Gold Reindeer Head {Ornament Day1}
Others, well, notsomuch. (But we'll save that for next week.)
Merry Christmas and Thank you. My Favorite Poem.
My favorite Christmas poem by Helen Steiner Rice. Merry Christmas to each of you and thank you, for touching my life and for joining me here at Serendipity Refined! Have a glorious day!
I have a list of folks I know, all written in a book,
And every now and then, I go and take a look;
And that is when I realize that these names are all a part ...
Not of the book they're written in, but of my very heart.
And every now and then, I go and take a look;
And that is when I realize that these names are all a part ...
Not of the book they're written in, but of my very heart.
For each name stands for someone who has crossed my path sometime,
And in that meeting they've become the rhythm in each rhyme;
And while it sounds fantastic for me to make this claim,
I really feel that I'm composed of each remembered name.
And in that meeting they've become the rhythm in each rhyme;
And while it sounds fantastic for me to make this claim,
I really feel that I'm composed of each remembered name.
Though you may not be aware of any special link,
Just meeting you has changed my life, a lot more than you think;
For once I've met somebody, the years cannot erase
The memory of those pleasant words nor of a friendly face.
Just meeting you has changed my life, a lot more than you think;
For once I've met somebody, the years cannot erase
The memory of those pleasant words nor of a friendly face.
So please don't think my greeting as just a mere routine,Your name was not forgotten somewhere in-between;For when I send a greeting, that is addressed to you,It's because you are on that list of folks I'm indebted to.
For I am the total of the many folks that I have met,
And you happen to be one of those I prefer not to forget.
So whether I have known you for many years or few,
In some way you have been a part in shaping things I do.
And you happen to be one of those I prefer not to forget.
So whether I have known you for many years or few,
In some way you have been a part in shaping things I do.
And every year at this time, I realize anew ...
The best gift life can offer is meeting folks like you.
So may the Spirit of this Season, that ever endures,
Leave the richest blessings in the hearts of YOU and YOURS.
The best gift life can offer is meeting folks like you.
So may the Spirit of this Season, that ever endures,
Leave the richest blessings in the hearts of YOU and YOURS.
French Country Inspired Christmas Dining Room
I kept Christmas decorating in my dining room simple this year. Just a couple of wreaths, a length of garland, and red ribbon. It's certainly much more simple than our snowy, winter wonderland dining room decorating from last year ( see more here).
Simple, Rustic Advent Wreath
the reason for the season.
Christmas Front Porch and Urn Planter and The First Snowfall at the French Farmhouse
This year, for the first time in over ten years, I decorated my front porch entry with live greens. I hung live balsam wreath on the door, added some mixed green garland around the entry and then filled the urn planter outside of my front door with an assortment of natural materials (both real and artificial).
How to Make Easy Wooden Christmas Stocking Holders
Today, I'm delighted to be a part of a group of 30 incredible bloggers who are sharing ideas for creating a hand made holiday in your home. Yesterday I finally decided to finish decorating our mantel for the holidays.
Yes, I realize that Christmas is only two and a half weeks away...but my sons don't get home from college for another week so if you don't say anything, I won't.
Christmas Mason Jar Hot Cocoa Gift and Printable
Are you looking for an easy, inexpensive gift for teachers, neighbors or college students? How about a fun treat to exchange with your girlfriends or people at work? Do you have mason jars in your cabinet (or a box in the basement?)
How to Make A Christmas Stocking (Free Pattern)
I've always loved Christmas stockings. Especially when they're home made...and easy! Don't let these photos fool you. These stockings are super simple to make and the pattern is really easy to adapt.
Holiday Gift Tag Ideas and Workshop Photos
Last Sunday, during what may very well go down in history as one of the worst November storms on record in Illinois, I taught my first workshop. Believe it or not, people still came!
When I arrived at Vintage Charm to set up, it was a blustery, overcast day but the temperatures were in the mid 60's.
DIY Holiday Peppermint Wreath: Dollar Tree Craft
Nothing quite says, Merry Christmas like a grease spatter screen... truly. When I thought about holiday decorating as I found myself wandering through the Dollar Tree on Monday night, I knew almost immediately that I was going to need a grease spatter screen.
Pottery Barn Inspired Christmas Countdown Calender Pillow
Yes, It's November 7th and I'm sharing a Christmas project. Hey, it's not just me!...Pottery Barn's Christmas catalog has been out for a couple of weeks and when I came across their adorable Advent Calender Lumbar Pillow (known in my house as a Christmas Countdown Calender), I knew immediately that I needed one.
Chalkboard Tags, An Advent Wreath and Overdue Thanks
According to my BFF and the guide to my daily behavior, Emily Post,
(insert the sound of laughter and my family and everyone else who knows me rolling on the floor laughing)
"One has a year to write a thank you notes for wedding gifts". So I kind of figured that I was okay....even though this note (and one other that I'll share soon) are a couple of weeks late.
