When I started writing, the blog was a blank canvas. I had no idea what I was doing or whether anyone would even read it. In fact, if it weren't for my childhood friend, Ann, of Nellie's Barn Sale, I likely never would have started blogging at all. For me, putting it all out there is way outside of my comfort zone.
I wrote a few posts, put in a few photos of stuff that I was doing and things that I had made. Slowly,
Serendipity began to take shape. Some of you came along on the journey.
Nine months passed, I met fellow bloggers on the "road" who helped me with tips about everything from photos to format. Some of my projects were featured on my favorite blogs like: Funky Junk, At the Picket Fence, and DIY Showoff and MORE of you decided to share your time with me.
Needless to say, I'm still humbled, and honored, and thrilled every day. I mean, really, who wouldn't be completely amazed to have such amazing company and such kind friends to share things with?!
Then, just about three months ago, when my own Mom was having difficulty finding the blog, and I was trying to decide whether to continue blogging at all, I was incredibly blessed to have three fellow bloggers come into my life: Karianne from Thistlewood, Jami from Freckled Laundry and Gwen from The Bold Abode. These three ladies changed my life, and this blog, forever.
About 90 days ago, Serendipity Refined was "born". I got a domain, a new design, social media buttons and HOLY SMACKS, things have taken off from there!
So whether it's actually my one year or whether it's really only three months, I wanted to say:
Thank you,
from the bottom of my heart,
to each of you and to all of you: family, friends, fellow bloggers; everyone I've met on the road to date and those who will read this some day because after all, while life's "all about the journey",
it's the people that you share it with who make all the difference.

ReplyDeleteCongrats on your one year, and also on your three months, way to go!! I truly love the mantel, how lovely it must be to have the talent to make something so beautiful. Bloggers are amazing, are they not? I am not patting myself on the back when I say that, I am not yet a blogger, just a reader and follower. But I am going to be a blogger soon, thanks to support and encouragement, and help from people who are bloggers. Otherwise, I would never have even attempted to think I could do it! So, bless the bloggers, for they enrich our world. And that includes you, of course.
ReplyDeletethat owl gets around doesn't he? :)
ReplyDeletethis is one of my favorite quotes of all time - I actually sang the poem as a song in my (award wining) high school choir. life is all about the journey - and the choices you make on the journey, too.

CONGRATULATIONS, Kimberly on your one year anniversary! I've been following you for a couple of months now and enjoy each and every one of your posts. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteAnd your mantel is absolutely gorgeous! I love the "naturalness" (if that is even a word!) of it. Do tell me, though, how in the world you got your pallet apart. I hope you have a secret because I worked prying and unhammering one board for probably an hour. I said a couple of bad words and decided to come back to it at another time! :)
Again, congrats and the best to you for many more years of successful blogging!
Hi Barbara! There are two ways to go about it: 1)Use a circular saw and cut through the boards to the "inside" of the outer supports then use a Dremel Multi tool with a plunge blade (or Sawzall) to cut through the remaining nails in the middle. Or, 2) use the Sawzall or Multi tool to cut through ALL of the nails on all three boards (This is what I do because it preserves the character of the ends of the boards). Those shank nails are WICKED to try to remove! Good luck!
DeleteCongrats on one year and that is a gorgeous fall mantel. Love the leaf you drew and what a great quote. Your rock fireplace is amazing.

CONGRATULATIONS on your first blogging year, glad you stuck with it.
ReplyDeleteYou are one heck of an artist, love that sign. I saw your sign on the bloggers taking part in some kind of fall deal and had to get a better look, incredible. The quote is great also. Makes a person think.
I'm a new subscriber, will be back to see what incredible projects you make.
Im not a blogger, good thing with all the blogs I subscribe to there wouldn't be time to blog, lol.
I started reading blogs at end of last year and have become very addicted to reading and learning. If I miss a day I want to know what I've missed.
Such a wonderful group of people all over the world. I've learned alot about so many wonderful young women to older ones. I've learned alot about human nature from reading all the blogs and have to say it's so great to be even a very small part of such an extraordinary group of people. Very refreshing.
I haven't been this inspired and creative in a long time.
I'm 72, married for almost 44 yrs, have 4 kids and 6 grandkids. I come into my craft/office room alot late at night and have a really hard time shutting off my pc.The hours fly by and I have to make myself go to bed, hard to turn my head off, thinking of all the projects I"ve seen and the stories I"ve read.
You're a STAR today at I Gotta Create! Featuring you...thanks so much for linking up!
ReplyDelete<3 Christina
This is the neatest thing I have seen in blogland in forever!!! I am so going to copy this, but I will do it on canvas. Wish I had room for a big wooden piece, but canvas will have to do.I am now following.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful leaf/quote/owl/mantle. I found you at Home Stories A to Z and cruised on over for a closer look. Congratuations on your 1 year - 3 months anniversary.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Would love to hear more specifics about how your making your blog work better for you the last 3 months!
ReplyDeleteHi Jeannie! It feels to me like now that I have a blog that people can actually FIND, things are moving fairly quickly. I'm still working on content and photographs and, of course, learning social media. I think that the main thing is that I'm having fun, doing things that I LOVE to do and just sharing it. That's it! I still work a 40++ hour a week job in corporate America and have a home and family to care for so my "blog time" is limited but it's working for me so far!
DeleteGlad you hung in there! Great story and I love your painted pallet! Very cool. Family Home and Life
ReplyDeleteI saw your beautiful pallet sign featured at Make It Pretty Mondays, and had to come over and comment! That is one of my very favorite quotes, by my favorite poet! And you captured it beautifully! The entire mantel is absolutely fabulous! ~Now following you!
ReplyDeleteI love your sign so much I'm going to feature it tomorrow as one of my picks for the All Star Block Party features.
